Insanity update

As some of you may already know I started the Insanity work out routine and I'm about 5 weeks in.  This week is my recovery week then I have another 4 weeks to go till my 60 days.  I feel that at first I was super pumped but now I'm not really motivated.  I hope the next 4 weeks go by fast!

Healthy Dukboki

My sister and I wanted to make this Korean dish so we added yummy veggies such as: carrots, zucchini and onions.  If you don't know what Dukboki is it's a Korean dish with rice cakes and red chilli paste.  I know I know red chilli paste...it's not that spicy!  So if you want to make it...I'm sure you can youtube Dukboki and find awesome recipes.

App: Fooducate

So here's another wonderful healthy app for those of you who are looking for more guidance.  I came upon this app while looking for health related apps and found out this app is pretty interesting.  Basically what this app is like a food guide.  You can scan bar-codes for food item or just look up by food/brand and it tell you the nutritional values and the bad values too.  I like how it grades each item on a scale of A+ to D- and also you can compare it to similar products.  I also like how there's an alternative option where it tells you healthier choices/options.  One great thing about this app is that it has ASIAN foods.  You might as what some of them are?  Well some Asian ramen such as the Korean Shin noodles, the indomie Thai friend noodles, variety of fish sauces, soy sauce, saracha sauces, etc...are on fooducate.  So next time you eat something and wonder how healthy it is for you for just because your curious...FOODUCATE it!  You'll be amazed at what you know and what you don't know.  So keep on learning and educating yourself to be a healthier new you!

Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead Official Trailer

The movie that started it all!  So you might ask why I've started to become healthier?  It's all because of this movie.  Earlier this year I saw this documentary and I needed to change. I needed to really look at what I'm eating and like the saying says: "you are what you eat."  I know that all my fat cells are probably from years of bad eating and that I probably need to detox and get rid of those toxins and radicals.  If you need a motivator...something to push your healthy ways.  I really suggest this movie and to try the detox for at least 10 days.  I know it really helped me to become healthier.  After I watch the movie I started to juice, but I didn't have the fancy machine so I started veggie smoothies.  Soon after I received a juicer for my birthday and I've been using it everyday.  I don't use it religiously and drinking a lot, but as a supplement.  I felt that after a few days of drinking veggie smoothies/juices I started craving salads and green!  So that was a great booster for me, because I'm not a veggie eater and it's hard from me to eat veggies.  One other point they make in this movie is to consume veggies in their raw state as much as possible.  Seeing that my parents are Hmong they love to eat boiled veggies, thus is where my blog name came from.  Anyhow, I know by boiling you lose the nutrients, but it was how I was raised, so consuming raw veggies was really hard for myself.  Now, after a month I've become relatively custom to raw veggies now and eat them on a daily bases. So, watch the movie and you won't regret it!

P.S. after I stared juicing I feel that my skin has gotten better---less breakout!

Soy Milk

So recently I bought a carton of Soy Milk from my local grocery store and wanted to try this new healthy option.  I had always like drinking the "Asian" soy milk by Yeo, but I know that it's not health for you.  The Yeo Soy milk is super sweet in my opinion and I know my family loves to drink it.  Anyhow, the Soy milk I bought was not super sweet and had this soy after taste.  At first I didn't really like the after taste, but after a few cups I began to like it more.  Since I bought the carton I've been having my morning cereal with my soy milk.  I feel that the soy milk doesn't give me this stuffy feeling like regular milk does.  I guess it's kinda like skim milk but also has a richness to it.  It's hard to explain but I like it with my cereal a lot!  In addition you know how after a few days your milk might go bad and smell or become chunky?  Well with soy milk I feel as if it doesn't gross me out, because there wasn't any weird smell or it didn't become chunky...maybe it's because I finished it before my usual milk.  Anyhow, I just feel that since it's made from a veggie it wouldn't go bad as fast?  Well today I went to the store and bought some Almond milk so till the next post take care and take one step everyday to be a healthier you!
